Every couple of months, my husband and I take a short drive north of Saint Augustine to visit Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. It is one of the prettiest locations along the north Floridian coast, and boarders closely to Georgia. Every trip, we return home with the most amazing seashells.
Enjoy my gallery of photos from this magical location. I continue to add to this collection with every visit.
A Unique Sunset at Fernandina
The light was fading quickly, and I rushed across the dock to take a picture before the sun dipped below the clouds.

“Oh no, I missed it,” I thought, eyes furrowing with disappointment as the camera shot I wanted was gone,
I moved onto another subject, which was a pelican floating on the surface of water below me. He looked so content, having just eaten a bucket of fish from an incoming boat, and I tried to capture him in his serene abode. But, when I just so happened to look up, I noticed something miraculous. The sun had dipped beneath the edge of the cloud, and now shined in a warm glow of the slight sliver between cloud and the horizon. It was something I have never seen before in my life.
And then, I had a thought. This moment of losing a beautiful view, only to be rewarded with a unique one that was so much better than the original, is quite like real life. Moreover, it reminds me of those hard times, when we think all is lost, that God gives us a strange, indescribable glimmer of hope.
There is hope, on the horizon. God sent me a sunset to remind me of this truth. While there is Christ, there is always hope.
